Flor Argueta Academic Coordinator
As the Administrative Coordinator in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures Flor is completely responsible for all aspects of the administration of the department, its faculty and instructors, including contracts, appointment and reappointment forms, scholarships, hiring, course scheduling, enrollment management, and coordination of academic events. Flor also serves as Placement Test Coordinator, managing and scheduling the online tests, entering test results into student records, billing students, verifying high school transcripts and registering all incoming first year and transfer students. Flor oversees all operations of office services, handles purchases and reimbursements, and prepares budgets and reports.
Johnny FrancisMedia Specialist
Johnny Francis is the Media Specialist in the Modern Languages Department at Catholic University. As a Lebanese-American with a love for languages, Johnny holds a Masters degree in Franco-Arab Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a thesis on the effectiveness of graphic novels at evoking experienced trauma, particularly within the context of the Lebanese Civil War. He also taught French for UNC during his graduate studies. After graduating with his Masters, he lived and worked in France for a year teaching English to French high-school students. Johnny uses his experiences as a language student and instructor to determine which technologies are most conducive to effective language learning and conducts workshops with the Modern Language Faculty to demonstrate how best to implement these technologies into the classroom setting.
